There’s a moment that doesn’t get talked about very often.
You decide~I want to read my Bible.
You pick it up.
You open it…
…and then you sit there thinking~
“Where do I even start?”
I remember that feeling. Not because I didn’t want to read it…
but because I didn’t know how. There are so many pages. So many books. So many names I couldn’t pronounce.
And if I’m honest, it felt a little intimidating.
Maybe you’ve felt that too. You want to begin. But you don’t want to do it wrong. You don’t want to feel confused. And you definitely don’t want to start something you can’t keep up with.
So let me gently say this first:
You’re not behind.
You’re just beginning.
Start Here (And Keep It Simple)
If you’re not sure where to begin, start with the words of Jesus.
The book of John is a beautiful place to begin.
Not because it’s easy… but because it’s centered on who Jesus is.
You don’t need a plan.
You don’t need a schedule.
Just open to John… and read a few verses.
That’s enough.
Read Small, Not Fast
This is where most people get stuck. We think we need to read a lot.
But the Bible isn’t something you rush through. It’s something you sit with.
Try this instead:
Read a few lines.
Pause.
Let one phrase stay with you.
That’s where the real work happens.
Ask One Simple Question
After you read, don’t overcomplicate it.
Just ask:
“What stands out to me?”
Not what you think it should mean. Not what someone else would say.
Just… what caught your attention?
Write that down.
Even if it’s one sentence.
You Don’t Have to Understand Everything
This one matters.
There will be things you don’t understand.
That doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong.
It just means you’re reading something deep.
Let it be okay to not have all the answers.
What Matters Most
It’s not about how much you read. It’s not about doing it perfectly.
It’s about showing up. A few minutes. A few verses. A quiet moment.
That’s how it begins.
A Quiet Invitation
If you’ve been wanting to start but didn’t know how~
You don’t need a big plan.
Just open your Bible.
Start in John.
Read a few lines.
And sit with it for a minute.
Anchor Scripture
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
— John 1:1
